About Us

who we are

At Total Child Educational Foundation (TCEF), we believe that education is the foundation for a brighter future, a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty and unlocking the full potential of every child. Yet, in many parts of Nigeria, especially within underserved communities, the steady decline in educational standards has left countless children trapped in a cycle of limitations and unrealized dreams.

TCEF was founded in 2010 out of a deep concern and urgent desire to elevate the quality of education for children in the Aguda community of Surulere, Lagos. Recognizing the particularly poor state of public primary schools, we began by targeting this critical stage of learning—where the educational journey begins and foundational skills are shaped.

The first area the foundation thought needed urgent intervention was public primary schools, at it is common knowledge that the standard of these learning grounds have plummeted terribly over the years. The initial strategies employed by the foundation include Quiz competitions, Debate competitions, Summer School, Teacher training, Scholarship Schemes & After-School Classes.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our reach beyond Aguda to include Police Children Schools and other underserved communities in need of educational support. Through every program and partnership, we remain committed to nurturing the total child—intellectually, emotionally, and socially—while building a society where quality education is a right, not a privilege.

The Foundation doesn’t plan to rest on its oars; It would continue to reachout to the educational needs of children within its community and as it gets more support, would ameliorate the decadence In the educational sector and continue to bring hope to the lives of our future leaders.

our approach

At Total Child Educational Foundation (TCEF), our approach is rooted in strategic, grassroots intervention—focusing on areas of the education system where the need is greatest, yet attention is often lacking. We believe in investing early in a child’s academic journey, which is why we have chosen to concentrate our efforts on public primary schools—a sector that, for too long, has suffered from underfunding, neglect, and dwindling standards. Total Child Educational Foundation is entirely free will and self funded with no other aim than to impact the society by deliberately targeting the educational needs of various neglected segments of  our society.

Why Public Primary Schools?

Public primary schools are the foundation of formal education, especially for children from low-income households. Sadly, these institutions are often under-resourced, with large class sizes, inadequate learning materials, and unmotivated or unsupported teachers. The consequences are far-reaching—many children fall behind, lose interest in learning, or drop out entirely.

We believe that intervening at this level gives us the greatest opportunity to break cycles of poverty and academic underachievement. By improving educational experiences in primary schools, we can set children on a path toward lifelong learning and success.
